Great weekend my a**!!
4 days with the 7 losers who still have the stones to come. While I think it’s cool that they still come…what’s with the others? What else could they possibly have going that weekend? They must be polishing their poles while looking at Hillary videos. Granted some of the excuses are valid. David B was having breast reduction surgery…Roman was filling out the ppwk to transfer his son from Delbarton to Mahwah HS. Blane was at a Milo conference and Larry A had to service Big Popi one last time.
The truth is they weren’t really missed. After all…Tim was there! Yes Tim the esteemed British psychiatrist. He came only to do  research on his next psychiatry book “ The Mental State of a F**ked Up Golfers Mind”. I actually saw some of the notes he made on this year’s participants.
Eric…egomaniac…actually thinks he’s in charge of something important.
Jeff the champ…cheater, drug user…high on epinephrine the whole weekend…cost him $6000.
Joe…defending champ?...choker…how did he win last year
Brain…brother in-law…sister has bigger b….
Jimmy…will need more time…lots more…a lifetime…”passed on the p…y”
Tommy…throws lefty, swings lefty…liberal (no course of treatment will ever be effective to cure that affliction)

Well that’s some nice commentary from the guy who ”bolloxed things up” on the penultimate hole. Couldn’t beat the “hacks” and is trashing us? Maybe he should have also “passed on the p***y” as well.
Some mental health professional he is!!
The mere fact that a psychiatrist was a contender says everything about this year’s field…yeesh!

Another great trip and great weekend! The 2016 CGH began with ominous weather due to Hurricane Julia but ended up being fantastic all the way around. On late Wednesday afternoon, the forecast was for 20-30 inches of rain over the weekend. Reacting in his typically level headed way, the Chairman called an audible, moving the ‘AM’ round on Thursday from Eagles Pointe on Hilton Head to the Georgia State University GC (Go Eagles!!)in Statesboro, which is 30 miles west of Savannah. Pure genius!! Statesboro didn’t get a drop and with Julia moving out to sea earlier than predicted, the threat of a disastrous  weekend was averted. The GSU course was quite good, especially the front side.
The first official round was played from the blue tees at the Golden Bear course at Indigo. Tight, very…Tough, absolutely. By far the best round of the day was Jeff’s net 75 which was truly impressive in that he had only one double the whole round. It also ended up being the low round of the weekend even though this proved to be the toughest of the courses this year. That left Jeff with a 7 stroke advantage over the “English John Daly”, Tim, and an 8 stoke bulge over Eric and Jimmy. The defending champion Joe showed he was ready to defend… by shooting a round high of net 97.
Round 2 was played on the world famous Harbourtown GC. It was in great shape and the weather was perfect. By the time the group played up to the iconic lighthouse, we had a new leader. Jeff’s net 87 opened the door for Tim to seize control after a net 79. Jeff was one stroke back tied with the Chairman, who used a fortuitous bounce off of his caddy, to stay in contention. Brian made the  final group, three strokes behind, after a fine net 78. Jimmy was still in touch, 5 strokes off the pace while Joe and Tommy were more interested in the breakfast menu on Sunday morning.
After a fine dinner at Cranes which included traditional Woodford shots for the leaders, Sunday set up for an exciting finish…5 players within 5 strokes! Played on the difficult Fazio course at Palmetto Dunes a wild final group shootout occurred with each of the players leading the tournament at some point. Eric started hot but was undone by a four hole, twelve over par run on holes 5-8 (well done!). Brian had a nice cushion after a great front nine 42 but melted on the back. Tim grinded back to the top during the back nine but stumbled on 17. That was the key hole as Tim made a double on the signature par three while Jeff parred it. This led to the two stroke margin that Jeff would need to claim the 2016 title and his 5th overall.
Great job Jeff!!
